a change of course

For more than a decade now, I've been cleaning homes and small office spaces. I've accommodated clients near and far. from along the coast of the north and south shore, to the surrounding suburbs of Chicago. I do what I can where I can. Originally, I majored in finance and business management. After working a few years in corporate America, I decided to change careers to be closer to my family. Some of whom started experiencing critical health conditions. Having grown up in Poland to parents with particular proclivities for a tidy house, I naturally adopted the same high maintenance home keeping habits.Thus came the initial inspiration to pursue a new career, doing what i do now. When I first started out, I used whatever eco-friendly products were commercially available. But as my business blossomed with a growing tree of recurring clients, I slowly started incorporating my own homemade products.

Who’s responsible for pet pick-up and drop-off?

That all depends. As a courtesy, I offer free pick-up and drop-off if we’re within an eight-mile radius of each other. Anything over eight miles is a one-time flat fee of $50 that covers pick-up and drop-off.

For those farther away who need peace of mind, I’m willing to meet in the middle. For example, I have a former client who moved to Lake Forest. Whenever she wants me to take care of Tofu, we meet outside of the Baháʼí House of Worship in Wilmette. Try saying that ten times.

What can you share about your cancellation policy?

Be it personal or professional, reciprocal respect and consideration of time are essential for any healthy relationship.

All I ask is 24 hours’ notice prior to cancellation, so I have enough time to make the necessary schedule alterations. Life happens, often without warning. In the event a cancellation is made on short notice, I offer patience, space, and grace.

After two late cancellations in the same moon cycle, an invoice of $52 should be expected. If an unwarranted pattern is observed over the course of two months, the next short-notice cancellation will result in an immediate discontinuation of all services and may include communication.

When do you expect to be compensated?

For all weekday cleanings, I require all non-cash compensation before dusk that day—no later than a few hours after dawn the following morning if further inspection is needed.

For all weekend cleanings, I kindly ask that all non-cash payment be submitted no later than Monday morning at eight. As for overnight pet care, payment should be made upon pick-up or drop-off prior to their stay.

Where do I send payments?

I have Apple Pay, Venmo, and Zelle.

Why doesn’t your site have prices listed?

For cleaning and overnight pet care, I charge based on a few combined factors. One of those is square footage when it comes to cleanings.

Times are tight, for some more than others. With that being said, I’ll note that the fixed negotiated rate is always lower than the initial cleaning.

How far are you willing to travel for a cleaning?

As far north as Reprise Coffee Roasters in Evanston, and as far south as the Jerk Yard in Hyde Park.

Do you do dishes?

Maybe in my next life.

Do you clean toilets?

Like my career depends on it.

Do you bring your own supplies?

Though I prefer my own non-toxic, eco-friendly products, I’ll use whatever makes you most comfortable.

Do you use your own vacuum?

Yes. I have two I regularly clean and rotate.

Do you interact with the pets outside of routine walks and feeding?

After coffee and before Ted Lasso.

Are essential oils safe to use around pets and where do you get your oils and diffusers?

I distill a handful of my own but source the majority of my essential oils from a few distributors.

As for diffusers, I have two nebulizers from Florihana and an AERO SM from SEASONS LIFE. I’ve also got a VITRUVI cordless MOVE diffuser and SONI SM from SEASONS LIFE.

Despite mixed opinions on pet safety, I never diffuse essential oils around anyone’s pet. That being said, I limit my use of topical application when around them as well.
